Wildcats Win First District Home Game 2-0
In a historic showdown on their home yard, the Walnut Grove Wildcats won their first district game, securing a resounding 2-0 victory over the Frisco Memorial.
The hero of the day was none other than senior pitching sensation, Trent Collier, whose masterful performance left the opposing batters flailing. Collier took to the mound with the weight of anticipation upon his shoulders, but he bore it with the poise of a seasoned veteran. Across seven innings, he painted a masterpiece of pitching prowess, conceding only a solitary hit while amassing an impressive tally of 12 strikeouts. His control was impeccable, allowing a mere trio of base on balls, while ensuring not a single run tainted the Wildcats’ scoreboard.
But Collier didn’t carry the weight alone; he had his comrades in arms, Ethan Ho and Jacob Reish, to thank for providing the offensive spark. Ho, the senior stalwart, showcased his batting finesse, going 1-2 at the plate, driving in a crucial run and exhibiting discipline with a base on balls. Meanwhile, Reish was a force to be reckoned with, delivering a flawless 2-2 performance, crossing the plate himself and ensuring the Wildcats’ offensive engine roared to life.
The Wildcats next host Frisco Centennial on March 19. First pitch is 7:30pm at Wildcat Field.
