ASSISTANT COACH
Garrett Roberson
Coach Roberson enters his 9th year overall as a football coach and first year at Walnut Grove. The native of Idalou, Texas spent his undergraduate time at West Texas A&M University where he was a walk-on quarterback during the 2008-2009 seasons. He held a roster spot on the Amarillo Venom Arena Football team during the 2012 season. Roberson spent his time gaining knowledge and coaching experience as a strength & conditioning assistant his last two years at WTAMU, and graduated in May of 2013 with a Bachelors of Science (emphasis in Sport and Exercise Science). Roberson moved to the DFW area immediately after and worked to attain his Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Arlington. In his final semester, Roberson worked as an intern at Cedar Hill with the football program and also assisted with the strength and conditioning aspects as well.
Roberson began his coaching and teaching career at Keller Middle School in Keller, Texas working with football, basketball, and track from 2015-2017. In the 2017-2018 school year, Roberson was the Athletics Coordinator at Finley Junior High. The 2018-2021Roberson was the Quarterbacks Coach, Head Powerlifting, and Head Strength & Conditioning Coordinator at Forney High. During the 2021-2022 school year, Coach Roberson served as the Quarterback’s/Running Backs Coach at Cleburne High School, and most recently was the Quarterback’s Coach/ Passing Game Coordinator at Hebron High School. As an Idalou Wildcat, Roberson lettered 3 years in basketball, was the Offensive MVP of the District and 2nd Team All South Plains his senior season. He also lettered and competed in football, baseball, and track for 2 years. Garrett’s greatest moment in life, aside from being saved by Jesus Christ, has been marrying his wife, Courtney.
